PATIENT TESTIMONIALS

" Great communication, and very helpful with my son. My son felt heard and understood. We got our meds right away. A very good experience!"

"Doctor Bert, he is a wonderful doctor. He has taken the initiative to actually listen to my mental health, where as previously I was not treated as such I was treated as a number and not treat me as a number. He took the time to get to know me, he took the time to help me and addressed my mental health."

"Today was my first appointment and he took his time to understand me, my past and back ground. Very through and has the experience to help meet your treatment needs. I feel WAY more confident about what’s going on then I ever have. I also have a safety sensitive job and he worked with me to make a treatment plan that allows me to continue to do what I love. Highly highly recommend."

"I've seen many doctors in my life dealing with Bipolar Disorder II but Dr. Bert was by far one of the best. He not only listened to what I had to say, but he understood. He truly takes all the time it needs to understand your medical history and background. He offers recommendations, but make sure your voice is also heard in your treatment plan. I recommend Dr. Bert to anyone that may have had a negative psych experience in the past or anyone that just wants an alternative opinion. Very wise, knowledgable, caring Doc."

"Easy to talk to and listened intently. Gave great feedback and advice throughout my entire session. I was skeptical but definitely found a great psychiatrist!!'

"Bert is a great mental health provider. Holistic in approach, he’s not just writing prescriptions for medications. Very thorough and a great listener."

“It was a very good experience speaking to him. He was very positive and energetic and gave me great advice. He seemed very experienced and wanting to really help me. Can’t wait to work with you next week!"

"Good overall experience, was able to take his time and listen. Very respectful and was able to explain everything to me. Would recommend to someone else."

"Overall 5 star provider with limited wait time and a great bedside manner."

“I was looking for a new doctor that offered teledoc appointments and was worried that it would take a long time to get an appointment, but I was quickly matched with a doctor who was a doctor who is a perfect fit. I was able to get an appointment for the next day, and I was beside myself how caring, and present the doctor was. He spent time listening to me and learning about me and I am confident he cares about my wellbeing. I can’t say enough good things about my experience and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a doctor who isn’t just a rx writer but instead a holistic healthcare provider."

“Dr Bert is caring and compassionate, a great dr.”

“I haven’t met any professional in the mental health field (I’ve met all 100000 of them) who has that..je ne sais quio like Bert!"

5 Natural Ways to Lower Stress and Feel More in Control

May 23, 2025

In today’s fast-paced world, stress seems to be a constant companion. Whether it’s work deadlines, financial pressures, or simply juggling everyday responsibilities, chronic stress can take a toll on both your mental and physical health. Fortunately, there are natural and effective ways to calm your mind and body—no prescriptions required.

Here are 5 proven, natural ways to reduce stress and regain balance in your life:

1. Practice Deep Breathing and Mindfulness

When we’re stressed, our breathing becomes shallow and rapid, which tells our brain that we’re in danger. Deep breathing interrupts this cycle.

Try this: Take a moment each day to pause and inhale deeply through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, and exhale slowly for 6 seconds. Repeat for 2–5 minutes.

Pair this with mindfulness—focusing on the present moment without judgment. Just observing your thoughts and surroundings calmly can bring immediate relief.

2. Get Moving

Physical activity is a natural stress reliever. It boosts the production of feel-good chemicals like endorphins and lowers the level of stress hormones like cortisol.

You don’t need a gym—a 20-minute walk, light stretching, or dancing to your favorite music can be enough to feel better. Aim for any movement you enjoy, and do it consistently.

3. Cut Back on Caffeine and Sugar

While a cup of coffee or sweet snack may feel like a quick pick-me-up, too much can worsen anxiety and stress. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system, and sugar can cause energy spikes followed by crashes, leaving you more irritable.

Try this: Swap coffee for herbal teas like chamomile or lemon balm, which have natural calming properties.

4. Connect with Nature

Time in nature has been shown to reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, and improve mood.

Try this: Spend time outdoors daily, even if it’s just sitting on a bench, walking barefoot on grass, or listening to birds in a local park. The natural world has a grounding effect that reminds us to slow down.

5. Set Boundaries and Say No

Chronic stress often stems from overcommitment and people-pleasing. Learning to say no without guilt is a powerful way to protect your time and mental health.

Ask yourself: Is this serving my well-being or draining it? Saying “no” to one thing is saying “yes” to your peace of mind.

Final Thought: Small Changes Add Up

Lowering stress doesn’t require a complete lifestyle overhaul. Even small, intentional steps can create big shifts in how you feel.
